Go over your doorway knobs, hinges and other hardware with petroleum jelly ahead of portray.
It is an effortless way to insure they do not get covered in paint. All you have to do when you are completed portray is use a comfortable cotton cloth to wipe the petroleum jelly from the surfaces of the hardware.
